CLASSROOM VISITS AND TOURS

Ridgecrest Elementary Poetry

Civil Disobedience

Civil disobedience is contagious
Throughout the world —
A woman fights
Between two crowds,
Risking to get arrested.
She yells and speaks of peace,
Knowing it might not do anything.
Oh well.
At least they heard what she had to say.
At least she did not keep it inside of her.
That's all that matters.

Good Will Woman

Behind her stands
A crowd of people
Helping her try
To stop the war.
They hold up signs that say
NO IRAQ WAR!
Even though the war
Has begun.
Blue and black people stand in front,
But they don't stop.
They stand strong
And keep on going.

Peace

A woman is in the center of a crowd
Trying to give the world peace
Surrounded by red and blue
And men who want to them to go away.
Blue badges all around
See her way to stop this madness.
Can’t we just give the world peace
And see that we are one?
See her braveness, see her caring.
She is still standing.
They can do what they want
But she will not stop!
Even when it takes all night.
She will keep her spirit high and bright
And get peace throughout the night.

The Little Old Lady Who Cried Peace

Peace!
Cried the peeved old lady
Wearing her florescent vest.
Between two crowds
She demonstrates against
The cold war.
People with signs
And people with uniforms
Stop to listen.
She speaks of life
Without war.
Her actions are tough
And radical
But they make a difference!
       * Nicole
